Overview
"Powering Saskatchewan: A Nuclear Opportunity" by Honourable Don Morgan, K.C.
SaskPower has set the goal of lowering greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% from 2005 levels by 2030, and the development of cleaner electricity generation options is essential to Saskatchewan's future carbon reductions. SaskPower is evaluating the full range of generation options, which will help us determine the portfolio that best enables the delivery of reliable, cost-effective and sustainable power. Small modular reactors are one option available to Saskatchewan, and SaskPower is undertaking the significant planning and development work required to support a decision on whether to proceed with construction of Saskatchewan’s first small modular reactor.
