NSBA Club Connect Breakfast Series Featuring:
"What is a world trade center and whats it doing in Saskatoon"
A Presentation by Don Atchison
Saskatoon's recently-announced involvement as one of 320 World Trade Centres globally is another signal that we have "arrived" on the world stage, and as a lubricant to commercial relationships among international partners. Don is a member of four Members Advisory Councils: Trade Services - Western Hemisphere, The Business Club, one of three founders of the Agriculture Council, and Vice-Chair of the Exhibitions & Conventions Council. As such, he is uniquely able to bring understanding of what a World Trade Centre is, and the potential for our us of its international affiliations.
Don Atchison served as Saskatoon’s mayor for the longest stretch in our city’s history at 13 years, holding the job – and informal title of “Canada’s hardest-working mayor” - for four terms, preceded by three terms as Councillor for Ward 10.
Don was instrumental in the redevelopment of Saskatoon’s River Landing and the construction of the Remai Modern Art Gallery of Saskatchewan - both cityscape-changing projects that were spearheaded by council while he was mayor.
Since the 2016 election he has worked as a consultant for Canwest Commercial and Land Corporation. Through Canwest’s involvement with the 320-member World Trade Centre organization, Don is now a member of four WTC committees, continuing to take Saskatchewan to the world, and bringing the world to us.
In recognition of his contributions to our entire province, Don was one of only six appointed to the Saskatchewan Order of Merit in 2019.
